Eung Soo started the violin at seven. After graduating Seoul Arts High School (Prof. Tae-Sik Pyung), he moved to Vienna and studied with the wolrd-famous teachers as professors, Michael Frischenschlager, Igor Ozim, Kriszstof Wegrzyn and Boris Kuschnir. He is esteemed as a musical virtuoso and his wide concert engagements demonstrate this: concerts with Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, Biel Symphony Orchestra, ’P. Constantinescu’ Ploiesti Philharmonie, Jena Symphone Orchestra, Daegu Symphony Orchestra, Kyungbuk State Symphony Ochestra and others. Eung Soo appeared in important venues in Vienna, London, Berlin, Barcelona, Florence, Milan and many other cities in Europe and Asia. Moon Young Chae, pianist, performed the Grieg Piano Concerto when she was only thirteen with Korean Symphony Orchestra where she was commented as a ’sentational young pianist’. She extended her studies at the Purcell School in London and she studied with world-leading teachers like Patsy Toh, Yonty Solomon and Irina Zaritskaya. She received the Master of Music Degree from the Royal College of Music. She was awarded in competitions such as Concorso Internazionale Ciltta di Pinerolo (2001), the Intercollegiate Beethoven Competition (2001), the Concorso Internazionale di esecuzione musicale Provincia di Caltanissetta. Moon Young is also a devoted chamber musician. She has worked with professors like Boris Kuschnir, Pavel Vernikov and Igor Ozim. Moon Young has performed in prestigious venues in Europe and Asia. Trio Elegiaque The Trio Elegiaque was founded in 2001 in Basilea. The Trio was the winner of the 1st prize at the International Chamber Music Competition "Gaetano Zinetti" in 2007 in Italy. At the same competition, the Trio received the “Provincia di Verona” Special Prize for CD recordings. Few months later they received the “Special Award” by the Max-Reger-Institut Karlsruhe at the 2nd European Chamber Music Competition in Karlsruhe 2007. Previously, the ensemble was awarded with prizes including the “Support Prize of the Orpheus-Concerts 2002”, in London, and the “Special Prize of the Jury” at the Géraldine Whittaker Competition 2002, in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. The Trio was also a prize holder at the Migros Chamber Music-Competition in 2003 and 2007 in Switzerland. The Trio Elegiaque belongs to the selected ensembles of the “Menuhin Live Music Now” Foundation. Duo Iborra - Yang The Duo Iborra-Yang was formed at the Conservatore of Music of Karlshrue in Germany, where the two musicians are now studying. In 2006 the Duo won the First Prize ex-aequo at the 11th edition of the “Gaetano Zinetti” International Chamber Music Competition. Alvaro Iborra Jimenez, clarinet. Born in Tafalla, Spain, in 1981, he started to study clarinet at the age of 8 in his city. He continued at the Pamplona Conservatory of Music and subsequently at the Zaragoza High Consevatroy of Music where he graduated with the highest marks. In 2002 he won the First Prize in the Chamber Music Competition of Zaragoza (Spain) with the “Trio Scherzo” (piano, clarinet and violoncello). In 2004 he entered the Youth Orchestra of Spain. Since the same year he is a member of the Youth Orchestra of the Basque Country; with this Orchestra he played as a soloist the Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra of Aaron Copland in January 2006 in important cities (Victoria, San Sebastian, Bilbao). Since September 2005 he studies with Professor Wolfgang Meyer in the “Hochschule fur Musik Karlsruhe” (Germany). Yang Yang,piano. Born in 1979, Xizang, China, she begun studying piano from the age of 5. She has been awarded in many competitions. In 1991, she got the First Prize in the Piano Competition of the first Chengdu Art Festival. In 1994 she got the Third Prize in the first China International Piano Competition. In 1999 she won the 10th Hongkong Piano Open Competition and the Asia Piano Competition celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Chopin’s Birth. In March 2002 she got the Second Prize at the 1st Sichuan Piano Competition for young players. In May, she got a Special Performance Award of Chinese works in the 2nd “Goldenbell Awards of Chinese Music” Piano Competition. In July she got the highest score in the graduation exam and became a piano teacher in Sichuan Conservatory of Music. Since 2005 she studies with Dr. prof. Saule Tatubaeva in Karlsruhe Conservatory of Music - Germany. Duo Prism Comprised of pianist Rieko Aizawa and violinist Jesse Mills, Duo Prism is a dynamic ensemble committed to the full spectrum of works composed for this instrumentation. The metaphor of the three-sided prism represents the perfectly balanced relationship which these two artists togheter make with the composer of the works that they present. Since its inception in 2003, Duo Prism has performed at Universities, Concert Halls and Festivals throughout the United States. Based in New York City, the duo enjoys opportunities to work with contemporary composers in addition to their exploration of the vast traditional repertoire. They are in the process of performing the complete Sonatas by Beethoven, and they aim to commission new works in the upcoming season. Both Aizawa and Mills are graduates of the Juilliard School. Aizawa also studied at The Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, where she was the last pupil of Miecyslaw Horszowski. A native of Japan, Ms. Aizawa made her United States debut in 1988 with the New York String Orchestra, conducted by Alexander Schneider, at the Kennedy Center and at the Carnegie Hall. Mills earned a Grammy nomination for his work on a CD of Arnold Schoenberg’s music, released by NAXOS in 2005. He is known as a pioneer of contemporary works, a renowned improvisation artist, as well as a composer. Mills recently made his concerto debut at Chicago’s Ravinia Festival, and he also recorded a disc on the Verve label with jazz pianist Makoto Ozone. Duo Prism has a passion for understanding the voice of every composer; they seek to illuminate the music as well as their own joy recreating it. 2005 Ed. Anima Quartet, strings The ANIMA Quartet was founded in 1996 by students of the State Conservatory of Klagenfurt. Since 2002 the four young musicians study at the Musikhochschule in Vienna with members of the Alban Berg Quartet (Gerhard Schulz, Thomas Kakuska), Ernst Kovacic, Wolfgang Aichinger and Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartet), who also coach the Anima Quartet in chamber music. In an audition in Hannover, the ensemble was chosen to be an active participant at the newly founded European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA), which enables the four young musicians to work for two years with internationally renowned musicians as Hatto Beyerle, Gerard Wyss, Thomas Demenga, Anner Bijlsma, Johannes Meissl a.o. The members of the quartet participated in various chamber music courses throughout Europe, where they had the possibility to work with members from renowned String Quartets (Alban Berg Quartet, Amadeus Quartet, Artemis Quartet, Artis Quartet, Auryn Quartet, Bartók Quartet, Emerson String Quartet, Janácek Quartet, Juilliard String Quartet, Hagen Quartet, LaSalle Quartet, Orion String Quartet, Prague String Quartet). They were also given the opportunity to participate twice in the Encounters with Isaac Stern (Cologne and Jerusalem). The ensemble won various prizes (1st prize ex-aequo at the 10th “Gaetano Zinetti” International Chamber Music Competition, Italy, 1st prize at the premier Austrian national competition Gradus ad Parnassum and a special award by the “Wiener Philharmoniker”, Oestig-Preis, Bärenreiter-Förderungspreis) and for summer 2002 the quartet has been invited to play three concerts at the Festival international de quatuors à cordes du Lubéron in France. In summer 2003 the ensemble was invited to play a concert during the Internationalen Beethovenfest Bonn, and for 2004 an invitation for a concert at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern followed. In May 2004 the Anima Quartet gave its debut in the Wiener Konzerthaus with great success, and a concert with the Vienna Chamber Philharmonic in the Mozart Saal of the Wiener Konzerthaus followed in November 2004. ATO Duo The ATO Duo was formed in 1998 at the Aspen Music Festival by pianist Thomas Hoppe and violinist Annette von Hehn, encouraged by the suggestion of the famous violin pedagogue, Dorothy Delay. Since then, the Duo has performed in numerous recitals throughout the USA and Europe to critical and public acclaim. In 1999 the Duo was awarded the prize of the Artists International Auditions and played their debut recital at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie in New York City. They received artistic guidance by musicians such as Itzhak Perlman, (Dorothy Delay), Felix Galimir and Ilan Gronich. Their concert activity, in which they explore almost the entire range of Duo repertoire, has brought them to many prestigious stages, i.e. Konzerthaus Berlin, Alice Tully Hall in New York and the Congress Center Hamburg. The ATO Duo was featured artist at Young Euro Classic in Berlin and at the lunch concert series at Harris Hall/ Aspen, Colorado. Annette von Hehn and Thomas Hoppe both studied at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, where they received their Bachelor of Music and their Advanced Certificate, respectively. Both musicians are founding members of the ATOS Trio together with cellist Stefan Heinemeyer. Since its founding in 2003 the trio has won several prizes (International Brahms Competition/ Pörtschach, Austria, Deutscher Musikwettbewerb, Bonn). During this season, the trio will perform around 50 concerts in Germany and throughout Europe. Hoffman-Koudriakov Duo, viola-piano The first grand public appearance of the Duo was in Yuri Bashmet international Viola Competition and at once they were noticed by Moscow audience. Since that time the Duo constantly performs in Russia and abroad. Their repertoire includes wide range of stiles, contains not only famous masterpieces but a lot of rare and less performed works as well. Ilya Hoffman Born in Moscow in 1977, Ilya Hoffman Studied at Moscow Special Gnessins School of Music in the Elena Ozol’s class. Graduated from Moscow State Conservatory, in the Yuri Bashmet and Roman Balashov’s classes, at present time he is a post-graduate student at Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Yuri Bashmet and a teacher at Gnessins School of Music. He studied composition under tutelage of his father, composer Leonid Hoffman, follower of the Second Viennese School, pupil of Philip Herschkowitz who was a student of Alban Berg and Anton Webern. Laureate at Yuri Bashmet International Viola Competition (Russia, 2000) and Special Prize winner of Leonel Tertis International Viola Competition (UK, 2003), Ilya Hoffman, as violist and as a composer, participated in important festivals, such as: Moscow Autumn Festival, Oleg Kagan Memorial, Arnold Schoenberg international Fest, “Music forum to mark the 1700th anniversary of the Christianization of Armenia”, Maria Yudina commemoration, “World Viola Fest.” in Kronberg, “The Plush-fest” in London, “Mozartiana” Festival, and others. Nowadays he is performing regularly as a soloist with orchestra and as a chamber musician. Sergey Koudriakov Sergey Koudriakov was born in Moscow in 1978. He began his professional musical education in the Moscow Special Gnessins School of Music in Valentina Aristova’s class. Following this he graduated from Moscow State Conservatory and a post-graduate course in the class of Prof. Mikhail Voskresensky. Today he teaches in the Moscow Conservatory as an assistant in his class. Sergey Koudriakov is a laureate of the International Piano Competition of the City of Porto, Portugal (5th prize, 1997), Epinal International Piano Competition, France (3rd prize, 1997), and Geneva International Music Competition (formerly CIEM), Switzerland (1st prize, 2002). He was also granted the special award at the Géza Anda International Piano Competition in Zürich, Switzerland (2000) and Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth, USA (2001). She has performed with orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, the Orchestra of St. Lukes at Caramoor International Music Festival, the Little Orchestra Society at New York’s Alice Tully Hall, with the Augsburg State Opera Orchestra in Augsburg, Germany, to name a few. In 1996 She made her New York recital debut at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in which the New York Times wrote “ ... it was a gripping performance. Ms. Yoshida played with on-the-line commitment”. Her Washington DC debut in 2000 was broadcast on the radio throughout America on NPR’s “Performance Today”, also receiving a glowing review in the Washington Post. She resides in New York and London. A native of Los Angeles, Reiko Uchida made her solo debut with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra at the age of nine and has since enjoyed an active career as a soloist and a chamber musician. She has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Santa Fe Symphony and the Symphony Orchestra of the Curtis Institute of Music, and made her New York debut last year at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. She was one of the first recipients of New York’s Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society Two, which was designed to nurture the careers of outstanding young musicians. She is a member of the Laurel Trio and the Moebius Ensemble, and appears frequently with distinguished artists such as Jaime Laredo, Sharon Robinson and David Shifrin. She resides in New York City. Ayako Yoshida and Reiko Uchida first met while attending the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and their 15 year collaboration has brought them together in performances throughout America, Europe and Asia as duo partners. The Hungarian pianist Nóra Emödy first met the Egyptian pianist Ahmed Abou-Zahra in Freiburg where they studied at the same music school and decided in 1996 to play together. Nóra studied piano with K. Schweitzer (Budapest), T.Hazay and J.Avery (Freiburg), F.Rados (Budapest), Ahmed studied with Marcelle Matta (Cairo), J.Avery ( Freiburg), András Schiff and F. Rados (Budapest). The Horus Duo worked with P.Dan, Gy.Kurtág G.Kalish, F.Rados and András Schiff in the piano duo repertoire ( privately and in Masterclasses). In 1997 and 1999 they were invited from the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada for 3 monthes stay as an artist in residence to perform through out Canada. In 2000 the duo was granted a scholarship from the city Baden-Baden for a four weeks stay in the Brahms House in Baden-Baden. 1999 the Horus Duo released their first CD which called Variations for Two, many of their concerts were live broadcasted on the south German Radio (SWR), Bavarian Radio (BR), BBC, Canadian Radio (CBC) and the Egyptian Radio and Television. The Esart Trio Berlin The Esart Trio Berlin was founded in 2001 by the pianist Cédric Pescia, the violinist Nurit Stark and the cellist Hila Karni. Currently studying with Prof. Ilan Gronich at the Universität der Künste Berlin and with the Alban Berg Quartet at the Musikhochschule Cologne. They received master classes from Bernard Greenhouse in Boston. They appeared in concerts in Germany (Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), Lithuania, England (Wigmore Hall, London) and the U.S.A. The Esart Trio Berlin won the 3rd Prize in the 2003 “Trio di Trieste” Competition in Trieste-Italy and the 2nd Prize - “Unilever Bestfoods” Award for excellence - in the “Gaetano Zinetti Competition”, Sanguinetto-Verona, Italy. They have been selected to take part in the “Rising Stars” 2004-2005 (concerts at the Musikverein-Wien, Carnegie Hall-New York, Concertgebouw-Amsterdam, Cité de la Musique Paris, Philharmonie-Köln). Cédric Pescia (piano) was born in 1976 in Lausanne (Switzerland). He began piano studies at age seven. He subsequently enrolled at the Lausanne Conservatory of Music under the direction of Christian Favre. He continued studies under Dominique Merlet at the Geneva Conservatory where he was granted, in 1997, the first prize of virtuosity with distinction of the jury. His present studies are with Klaus Hellwig at the Universität der Künste Berlin, where he was awarded, in 2000, the Diploma with the highest score. He has participated in numerous piano master classes with artists such as Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Daniel Barenboim, Ivan Klánsk and Christian Zacharias as well as Lieder interpretation courses with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. He is invited in 2003 as a resident to the International Piano Academy-Lake Como (Italy) to study with Dimitri Bashkirov, Leon Fleisher, Claude Frank, William Grant Naboré and Menahem Pressler. Cédric Pescia has been heard in concerts throughout Europe and in the USA.. He has performed at the Berlin Philharmonie, the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Hamburg Musikhalle the Nürnberg Meistersingerhalle, Carnegie Hall-New York. He has appeared in leading music festivals (Menuhin Festival-Gstaad, Festival Tibor Varga-Sion, Festival Chopin-Paris, Busoni Festival-Bolzano, Grand Teton Music Festival). His concerto appearances have been with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, the Utah Symphony, the Festival Strings of Luzern, the Sinfonietta of Lausanne, the Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana and the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn. Cédric Pescia won the First Prize (from 520 contestants) in the 2002 Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition in Salt Lake City, USA Nurit Stark (violin) was born in Tel Aviv in 1979, where she attended both the Tel Aviv and Jerusalem Conservatories studying with Prof. Haim Taub. 1999-2000 she attended the Juilliard School of Music studying with Prof. Robert Mann, followed by a year at the Rubin Academy of Music Tel-Aviv, and since 2001 studying with Prof. Ilan Gronich at the Universität der Künste Berlin. She has made numerous solo appearances with symphony orchestras such as the Isreali Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta, the Sao Paolo Symphony Orchestra and the Israeli Sinfonietta. She has appeared in many music festivals and gave recitals throughout Europe, the United States and Israel and has success in international competitions rounds out her list of accomplishments. She receives regularly scholarships from the America Israel Cultural Foundation since 1991. Hilá Karni (cello) was born in Tel Aviv in 1975 and started performing in the United States and Europe at a young age. She studied in the US with Bernard Greenhouse who describes her as “one of the most musically sensitive and technically exciting cellists of the younger generation.” Since 1997 she has been studying with Prof. David Geringas in Lübeck and Berlin. She appears regularly as a soloist with the Hamburg Camerata and has made many festival appearances, among them Schleswig Holstein, Stresa and Ravinia. Recently she has substituted with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Her CD recording of Robert Volkmann’s concerto in A minor with the Hamburg Camerata was received with critical acclaim. Vilija Poskute & Tomas Daukantas Piano Duo Lithuanian pianists Vilija Poskute and Tomas Daukantas graduated brilliantly from the prestigious Lithuanian Academy of Music in Vilnius and Musikhochschule Winterthur-Zürich where they obtained their concert diploma. Currently they are completing their studies with Prof. Friedemann Rieger at the Musikhochschule Winterthur-Zürich and Prof. Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl at the Musikhochschule Rostock and will obtain their Ensemble Diploma in June 2004. In 2001 they were prize winners at the Franz Schubert International Competition for Piano Duos in Czech Republic and were finalists at the International Murray Dranoff Two Pianos Competition in Miami. 2002 First prize winners at the International Music Competition Citta di Pavia and International Music Competition Camillo Togni Brescia and also won top prizes at the Palma d’Oro Chamber Music Competition in Finale Ligure, Yehudi Menuhin “Live Music Now” prize in Zürich. 2003 prize winners at the Gaetano Zinetti Chamber Music Competition in Verona and of the Orpheus Concert Prize 2004. Alexis Muzurakis & Susana Prieto Guitar Duo now Duo Melis The guitar duo Muzurakis & Prieto has won the international acclaim after winning some of the most important competitions: - First Prize in the International Guitar Duo Competition of Frechen (Germany 1999) - First Prize in the IX International Guitar Duo Competition of Montelimar (France 2000) - First Prize in the XXI International Guitar Duo Competition “Mauro Giuliani” (Italy 2000) - First Prize in the Chamber Music Competition of Leipzig, in the category of duo ensemble (Germany 2001) - First Prize in the I International Guitar Duo Competition of Paris (France 2001) - Third Prize in the International Chamber Music Competition “Gaetano Zinetti” (Italy 2003). They have performed in some of the most important concert halls of Europe, like the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, the Megaron of Athens and the auditorium Alfredo Kraus of Spain. Likewise they are regularly invited to play concerts and give master classes in guitar festivals trough Europe and South America: Volos (Greece), Saltillo (Mexico), Cologno Monzese (Italy), Andrés Segovia (Spain), Sinaia (Romania), Tenerife (Spain), Amsterdam (Holland), Ansbach (Germany), Tychy (Poland), Forum Gitarre (Vienna), Belgrade (Servia). They have collaborated with the Orchestra of the Radio of Bucharest, the National Orchestra of Greece conducted by Leo Brouwer and the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie. They have recorded for the National Radio of Holland, Portugal, Belgrade, the Kultur Radio of Wien and for the National Television of Romania. Composers as Joaquin Clerch and Carlo Domeniconi have dedicated pieces to them. Alexis Muzurakis was born in Athens (Greece) in 1976. He studied with Costas Cotsiolis, Zoran Dukic, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Carlo Marchione. He has been scholarship holder of the Onassis Foundation. He has won the following competitions: First prize in the National Competition of young musicians of Greece (1989), International Guitar Competition of Volos (Greece 1992). He has played concerts as soloist in Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Spain, Mexico. Susana Prieto was born in Santander (Spain) in 1975. She studied with José Luís Fernández, Margarita Escarpa, Manuel Estévez, Zoran Dukic and Carlo Marchione. She has been scholarship holder from several foundations: Alvargonzález, Yamaha Hazen, Segundo Gil Dávila and Alexander von Humboldt. She has won the following prizes: Second Prize at the International Guitar Competition of Canarias (Spain 1996), First Prize at the International Guitar Competition of Volos (Greece 1997), First Prize at the International Guitar Competition of Comillas (Spain 1997), Second Prize at the Young Musicians Competition (Spain 1998). She has played concerts as soiloist in Spain, Japan, Austria, Germany, Italy, and Greece.
